The primary focus of the Admissions Office is to select the best candidates for admission to medicine at Dalhousie University. We provide prospective applicants with information on the selection process and the criteria as found on our website.


What’s happening in the Admissions Office?

  • An information session regarding the application process to Dalhousie Medicine will be held on Tuesday January 31st from 11:30-1:00 in Theatre D of the Clinical Research Center (CRC) at Dalhousie University, 5849 University Avenue. All prospective applicants are welcome.

  • We have eliminated the requirement for reference letters to be submitted as part of our application process.

  • Please ensure you review the updated residency guidelines found here.

  • The latest sitting to write the MCAT exam in order to meet the submission deadline for the 2012-2013 application cycle is August 4th, 2012

Prospective Applicants
Application Information & General Timeline

A completed application consists of the following:

Step 1 The online application available beginning July 1st each year at dalonline.dal.ca
Completion of Step 1 is due on or before August 15th at 12:00 midnight Atlantic Time Zone Step 1 must be completed and “submitted” before you can proceed to Step 2

Step 2The online completion of the Supplemental information, 1500 word essay. Following the completion of Step 1, within 7 business days you will receive an automated email with sign in credentials (email address and Banner Number) and a link that will allow log in access to Step 2

Completion of Step 2 is due on or before September 1st at 12:00 midnight Atlantic Time Zone

September 5th – Deadline to submit transcripts
Applicants who have attended Dalhousie for an undergraduate degree do not need to request their official transcripts to be submitted. The Admissions office can access these online.

September 5th – Deadline to submit/release MCAT scores
Please ensure you release your MCAT scores to Dalhousie University. We are unable to completely assess your file unless your results are released from the AMCAS site.
